Marilyn Hansen Beck
At times, even when surrounded by others, we can still feel deeply lonely, which can take a toll on our well-being. If you are struggling with feelings of disconnection, you are not alone, and I would love to help you understand and explore these feelings more.
My therapeutic approach draws upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps identify and challenge negative thoughts; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), integrating mindfulness to help navigate difficult emotions; and Narrative Therapy, which explores rewriting the stories about who we are. I am also influenced by psychodynamic concepts and the impact of early relationships on present patterns. I enjoy working with adults of all ages facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and difficulties in relationships. I am passionate about working with midlife women, young adults, and neurodivergent populations.
I am currently enrolled at NYU Steinhardt completing a Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness. Before training as a therapist, I worked as a certified public accountant. Over time, I became drawn to the emotional dynamics in relationships and noticed the quiet anxiety many of us carry and the shame that often accompanies seeking support. These observations, combined with personal experience, led me to pursue a more meaningful path in mental health.
Together, we will create a supportive, curious, and open space. I look forward to connecting and doing great work, leading you to greater healing and happiness.
